HALF WAY !! The Fun Update !

First off, we are really disappointed we received no direction on how to celbrate a Sr. Missionary Couples half way point of their mission! No ties or white shirts were lit on fire by Elder Hanks.

Some Pday catch ups:

Here are Elders Dalton & Watkins, looking like they needed to be sperated by their dad for "bothering" each other. Just kidding - we were enjoying a place in our mission where jets, airplanes & helicopters are cleared for some really low fly bys, through these valleys. It is offically called the Mach Loop. You should look it up- it is very, very cool !

The locations were you can get up eye level to the planes is just outside our mission bounderies, so being obedient, we stopped at this cafe location to spot the jets within the mission bounderies. They would be flying above us at this location, still low enough it would be very cool.

Well, we waited about 1.5 hrs and didn't see anything but as we were preparing to find another location - a jet flew right over head - BUT of course we were in the car by then so we all missed it ! Most people that come to the Mach Loop, come for the WHOLE day, and are professional type photographers trying to get really cool pictures of all kinds of aircraft!

Here is an idea of the kind of shots photographers get at the locations outside of our mission bounderies! This will give you an idea of what I mean when they can get "eye level" with the planes !

Anther Pday we took the Coastal path from Aberystwyth to to the next "village" north of us, where we ended up on this beach.

The Coastal path for our area starts south of us in a town call Cardigan, and goes north for about 75 miles to a town called Machynlleth (the Mach Loop is named after this town).

Another Pday we rode out with Elder Dalton & Elder Decker to Devils Bridge. I have written before about visits to Devils Bridge, an here we are again! I think we will need a season pass to Devils Bridge as it is one of the top 2 sights to see here!

The website says there is a total of 675 uneven stone stairs that follow a "monks" path, from much earlier years of course, to enjoy a 300 foot water fall!

I'll show you a comparison of the changing of colors since the last time we were there in March!

May

March

Our last District council with this group of missionaries! This district is spread out over a 2.5 hour radius, so we all drive 1 hr to meet in the middle! The 2 "bookend" elders (McCormick & Watkins) were transferred later that week.

After District Council we saw this cool, but very claustrophobic side car!

These are the  sights I get to enjoy while exercising! As sr couples we have a little bit more freedom as far as having- or not having to "stay together" 24/7. Although, we do enjoy getting out as much as possible together to enjoy so many beautiful "foot paths" that cover this whole country.

The Uniqueness of Wales....

top 2 signs caught my eye....?

Everyone loves flower pots, and flower pots, and flower pots and more flower pots!!
I can not figure this one out!

We have a unique trash situation- they are really big on every kind of recycling over here, BUT the counties do not provide garbage cans for such recycling. You have to buy your own trash cans and they are rather expensive.

So it ususally looks like this on trash day. Trash day is a daylong Thanksgiving Feast for all the seagulls as these bags are not very seagull resistant and are quickly shredded, thus leaving trash all over the sidewalks.

We tried spraying our trash bags with Lysol to keep the seagulls out of our bags but have now learned to just use 2 bags to keep them out. It is a very interesting system......

We celebrated my first and only mission birthday- we each will only experience 1 birthday away from home. We took the day to go out to Elan Valley. It is a valley of resevoirs and has about 6-10 dams & bridges to explore.

The bluebells have arrived !

Just a little chapel with a field of bluebells !

Tony provided the best ending to my bday-  a DC on the beach for the sunset!

The End of Part 1......
